TRANSACTIONAL WORK

REAL ESTATE LAW

Buying a home is a major investment. Be sure it's protected, and remember the old saying "Buyer Beware" still applies. Come and see us before you sign your contract. We can advise you on purchases, mortgages, sales and subdivisions, among other issues.

BUSINESS AND CORPORATE LAW

Business matters are important whether they involve simple or complex transactions. Be sure to seek legal advice without delay to protect your interests and your financial security. We handle incorporations, buying and selling businesses, corporate reorganizations, shareholders agreements, commercial contracts, leases and more.

ESTATE PLANNING AND ADMINISTRATION

Planning for your possible incapacity and eventual passing is extremely important. We can advise you about the current state of the law and prepare the necessary documents to help you. We can also assist executors in obtaining Grants of Probate or Letters of Administration and advise them on their duties and obligations. We provide services relating to wills, powers of attorney, probate/administration, living wills, representation agreements, and committeeships, as well as other areas.

EMPLOYMENT LAW

We provide advice for both employers and employees. Employment termination is complex. Proper planning and advice is important for both sides. We can advise employers on how best to achieve their goals. We can assist employees to ensure that their rights are respected and where they are not - ensure proper compensation.

LITIGATION

PERSONAL INJURY LAW

If you are injured in a car accident or in some other fashion, you are entitled at law to compensation from the person at fault. These rights need to be protected and are best protected by proper legal advice. We can develop a plan for you to ensure that your rights are met, and we can negotiate an appropriate settlement for you. For ICBC claims and other personal injury claims, our fee can be based on the amount recovered (contingency fee).

CRIMINAL DEFENSE

If you are charged with an offense then you need to know what your rights are and how they can be defended to the fullest. Experienced Counsel at Thompson, Le Rose & Brown can help.

ESTATE LITIGATION

We can assist you if another person has started litigation against you with respect to an estate. If you are a surviving spouse or child of a deceased person, we can advise you on whether adequate provision was made for you under their will, and represent you in making an application for a variation of the will, if necessary.

CIVIL LITIGATION

We handle a broad range of general civil litigation matters, including contract disputes, property disputes and construction litigation.

INSOLVENCY AND FORECLOSURE (Creditors’ Remedies and Collections)

If you are a secured or unsecured lender who is owed money and your borrower is in financial trouble or has stopped paying, you need to know how the law can help recover what you are owed.

FAMILY & DIVORCE LAW

When your relationship breaks down you may be faced with issues of property division, spousal maintenance, child support, custody and access. Dealing with these very personal issues can be extremely stressful. You need someone who can advise you on your rights and responsibilities and advocate on your behalf. If you are entering into a second marriage you may wish to ensure that you and your new spouse can each preserve your estate for the benefit of the children and grandchildren of your first marriages. You may be entering into a common-law relationship and need advice regarding the support obligations you are assuming towards your new spouse and step children, and your exposure to claims in your property if the relationship breaks down.
